order vs chaos
So a day late and a dollar short... I bought runner rugs last weekend so that someone's big ol' paws don't scratch the floors along the hallways. So when they are as they should be (aka - Order), they look like this:
But then quite often - probably more often than not - they look like this (aka - Chaos):
and during the day, it's because of THIS:
and when I wake up each morning, it's because of THIS:
Yep, in the middle of the night, my pussy plays on them and scratches and jacks them up. I don't really know why this is post-worthy. It had to be said.
Yes, crooked and rumpled rugs bug.

sunny sunday
sorry for those experiencing less-than-optimal weather. but the weather here today FUCKING RULES. Here's some shots from my roof and around my building. enjoy, bitches.
And for those who know me pretty well, you'll know this is uncommon for me, but these last few where the picture reads with the rays of sunshine? That's some higher-power shit for me. It's beautiful. SF is crazy beautiful. I'd even go so far to say a little more beautiful for having me in it. ;)

eight 8-oz glasses a day
I don't normally post on legitimate news. But WTF? Why not break the mold. I haven't posted in a bit and I feel I'm on a bit of a streak. I feel I owe you fuckers something.
So have you heard about the woman who entered a radio contest and died from drinking too much water? Well, if not, you can read about it here (<-- link) or maybe even here (<-- link).
But honestly people, come ON. I'm truly sorry she died. No one deserves that. But is it anyone else's fault but her own? Did she have a gun to her head and a cork in her bladder? No. She voluntarily competed. This is sort of like the man that sued McDonald's for making him fat.
I am sort of introspective lately. Own your shit people. It's yours. It might be all you've got. But it's yours.
And if you dont' like you, then change it. That's the only thing you have the power to change... YOURSELF. More specifically, in my own jack-shit opinion that doesn't mean anything to anyone but me... the only thing I believe you have power over is to change how you choose to allow things in your life to effect you.

Be you... loudly, strongly and decidedly.

OWN IT... WORK IT
the Tao te Gina
So I picked up a copy of the Tao Te Ching. I have long thought of getting one, but just never did. I resolved that yesterday.
Here's my progress:
- read chapter one
- thought about chapter one for about 30 minutes
- developed a headache
- am now laying down to take a nap
In defense of both me and the book:
- i am sick (cold)
- the book is "dense"

resolution
back in late November, maybe early december, I posted lyrics to the Nick Lachey super-sappy but to me, poignant, Resolution. and now, just a few days after ringing in the new year, I've actually thought about and decided upon some things I want to do this year. I won't call them resolutions. I'll call them goals.
in case you're curious, here's what I plan to do this year:
Volunteer: i have several ideas on this topic... Habitat for Humanity, Open Hand, AIDS LifeCycle (SF->LA2007) are on the top of the list.
Physical Fitness: 2006 saw me off to a good start. I lost 40 lbs during the last 4 months of 2006. I hope to lose another 25-30 in the first 4 of 2007 - just in time for my birthday. I also want to get to the gym more often than not. But on the topic of fitness, I'm also looking to learn a bit more about hiking and also cycling. I'm actually meant to be going on my first hike (albeit a city hike, not a wilderness hike) on a date this Sunday. Hopefully the city views will be as breathtaking as the boy is cute that is taking me on the hike! =0)
Sports: I wanna try my hand at a team sport. I'm going to try softball, possibly rugby. I've got a while to decide, so we shall see.
Maintenance: I will strive to continue to be nicotine (just celebrated 3 months y'all) and illegal drug/substance-free (5 yrs in Feb y'all!) in 2007 and all the remaining years of my life.
It's a pretty ambitious list. But I think I'll do well.
Here's wishing everyone strength, courage and conviction to stick to your guns and accomplish your dreams and goals in 2007 and beyond.
GBoogie
PS - I may be taking a hiatus. If I do, I might have a guest writer step in for me. I've still got some thinking to do on this subject, but I thought I'd tee it up.
